As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have partnered with Kanbe Market to rescue produce from 3 distributors, allowing us to provide nutrient-dense meals to under-resourced individuals in the Kansas City Metropolitan by lowering food waste in the current systems.
In the service industry, a ‘Family Meal’ is the meal that is prepared for the staff before a busy day to ensure everyone in the ‘family’ is nourished and in unison before the shift. We are applying that same theory to surpluses in the food system, individual families, and holistically the community as a family.
