Hunger Action Month
Our kitchen doors are open every day of it
More people are hungry in Kansas City than at any point in a decade, and federal food assistance is shrinking at the same moment. At The Prospect KC, we turn surplus food into scratch-made meals served at a table to anyone who walks through the door — and into careers for the people who cook them.
Everyone has a seat at the table
Need a meal?
Come in. There is no cost, no paperwork, and no barrier. A chef-prepared lunch is served at a table, and you are welcome exactly as you are.
If you need groceries or help connecting to other resources, our team can help with that too — just ask when you arrive.

Kids Facing Hunger
One in five children in the Kansas City region is food insecure — a 17 percent increase in a single year, and the highest level in a decade.
Who We Are
The Prospect KC is an employment social enterprise in Kansas City. We use food as a catalyst for change — rescuing quality ingredients that would otherwise be wasted, turning them into balanced, nutritious meals, and reinvesting in the people who prepare them.
At the Nourish KC Community Kitchen at 750 Paseo, those meals are served at a table, at no cost, to anyone who comes through the door. Through Culinary Futures, our paid culinary workforce-training program, adults facing barriers to employment build real careers in professional kitchens.
Rescue. Repurpose. Reinvest. Every meal is a step forward, and everyone has a seat at the table.
Orange is the color of hunger relief. Wear it, post it, tag us — #HungerActionMonth @theprospectkc
The Scale of It
One in five children in our region does not have consistent access to enough food. Sixty-seven percent of food-insecure neighbors earn too much to qualify for SNAP at all.
